Pitch smarter. Throw harder. Stay game ready.

Are you ready to take your baseball pitching performance to the next level? Whether you’re a high school athlete, college prospect, or professional pitcher, our biomechanical pitch lab provides you with science-backed insights that will maximize your mechanics on the mound and help you avoid fatigue.

Why get a biomechanical pitch assessment?

Reduce injury risk and extend your game, season, and career

Poor pitching form puts unnecessary stress on your arm and lower body, increasing the risk of serious injuries like UCL tears (Tommy John), rotator cuff strains, and labrum damage. Our motion analysis identifies inefficient or excessive joint-loading movement patterns, so you can adjust before issues occur.

Increase pitching velocity

Optimizing your arm path while pitching can add 2-5 mph to your fastball without overexertion. Our experts provide information you’ll need to fine-tune your pitch for maximum power with less strain.

Improve ball command and accuracy

In baseball, an arm slot refers to the angle and position of a pitcher's arm when they release the ball during a pitch. A consistent arm slot, release point, and body alignment while pitching lead to better accuracy and precision. Our assessment identifies inefficiencies so you can develop precise pitch control while maintaining smooth, repeatable movements.

Enhance efficiency and game stamina

Pitcher fatigue leads to poor mechanics and increased injury risk. By analyzing your energy output and efficiency, we help you make mechanical adjustments to sustain peak performance throughout games.

Get data-driven, personalized feedback

We are not pitching coaches—we’re movement science specialists. Using high-speed cameras, motion capture, and force plates, we provide objective, science-backed feedback you won’t get from traditional coaching alone. Our detailed report helps you and your coach improve your game.

Gain a competitive edge

For pitchers looking to stand out to college scouts and professional organizations, our biomechanical analysis provides tangible performance metrics that highlight areas of improvement and showcase your potential.

Inform your training regimen

At the Center for Sports Performance and Research, our strength and conditioning coaches offer customized coaching to complement your biomechanics report. We'll help you develop a strength and mobility regimen that translates directly to the mound.

How it works

Our pitching assessment includes two 30-minute sessions to:

  • Collect data: After warming up, you will pitch from our instrumented, turf-covered pitching mound. High-speed cameras and force plates will capture both your pitch kinematics (how your body moves) and kinetics (forces generated by, and acting on, your body). This data helps identify muscle imbalances, less-than-optimal movement patterns and other areas for improvement.

  • Review your report: Our performance specialists help you interpret your results and can offer training recommendations. You will receive an interactive, web-based report for your reference. This second session can be done in person or remotely. We’ll also discuss custom strength and conditioning coaching offerings you can pursue at the Center to improve your pitch performance even more.

What to bring

  • Baseball glove
  • Tight-fitting athletic clothing (compression garments, if possible)
  • Appropriate footwear (cleats are OK)

Who can benefit from a biomechanical pitching analysis?

  • Youth, high school, college, and professional pitchers
  • Athletes returning from injury who have been cleared to resume pitching
  • Pitchers looking to increase their velocity and command
  • Baseball coaches and trainers seeking advanced player development tools
