Marvin Barksdale supports a range of system-wide business development activities at Mass General Brigham, focusing primarily on the commercialization of key and emerging discoveries, innovations, and other digital health technology. Leading the drafting, structuring, and negotiation of licenses, co-development, and collaborative research agreements, Marvin utilizes over two decades of experience in strategic digital IP deal-making to engage industry executives, investors, and innovators.
Immediately before joining Mass General Brigham Innovation, he worked at Meta Platforms Inc., serving as a senior project manager, advising WhatsApp leadership on the commercialization of a new API-based SaaS business model. Marvin’s health care experience began at Brown University’s Program in Liberal Medical Education, where he was awarded the Capstone Thesis Award for organizational research on institutional health care systems. This work led to Marvin’s recruitment by multi-national consulting firm CGI Inc. After attending law school, Marvin furthered his digital business development experience at several law firms and an in-house role at Universal Music. Marvin first came to Mass General Brigham in 2019 where he served as senior contract manager, negotiating system-wide digital software integrations and pilots.
Marvin holds a BS from Brown University and a JD from Seton Hall University.
